Mint (Mentha species)

Mint has been used as a flavoring herb for a very long time. It originates from the countires surrounding the Mediterranean and it has spread throughout the rest of the world with the same rapidity that it will spread through your garden. You can cultivate it in a pot, or you can let it run rampant. The best mints for flavor for cooking are Spearmint, Apple and Bowles' mint, while Peppermint is most widely used in teas and as a flavoring oil for sweets.
