Corn!

Corn! Corn on the cob, freshly picked from the field! A beautiful transition into August with a small reminder that fall is on the way. Steamed, boiled or grilled; with loads of dripping butter and salt. Is it proper to eat it "typewriter style" (from left to right) or just to gnaw off hunks of kernels? Either way the result is still delicious!

How to pick the perfect cob?.... Easy! taste it! "Yuck" you say, "raw corn?" Yup, pry off a kernel from a good looking cob and pop it into your mouth. If it's sweet & juicy grab it, if it's dry and tasteless choose another one.

There are many schools of thought on cooking the perfect cob. Some say steam them in 2 - 3 inches of water, others say drop them into boiling water than turn off the heat, while still others say drop them into cold water, bring to a boil then turn off the heat. It's up to you!
